Your logo – the all-encompassing, custom-designed representation of your company.  For your customers, this symbol conjures up feelings from their past, sense-stiring experiences of doing business with your company.  Whether it was having a smooth sailing purchase online, receiving amazing customer service in-store, or loving your product, when someone sees your logo they will remember how they rated their last experience with your company. Therefore, why not make it one to remember and one that makes other want to do business (and repeat business) with you? Here is how to make a memorable logo from the start – the Tenleaf Ten way:

  1. Timeless – Determine whether or not it will stand the test of time.  Is it “in” for today’s style and fads? It may work and be “hot” today, but will it be booming with success tomorrow? Next year? 5-years from now? Keep it classic.
  2. Memorable – Is it unique and will it stay in your customer’s mind regardless if they’ve ever done business with you? Can they recall you when they need you?
  3. Longevity – A 10-year minimum. While creating your logo think of creative elements that will stand the test of time, while expressing the personality of your company and the products or services it provides.
  4. Simple – A Vector image is best.  A one dimensional image without shadowing and a limited number of colors.
  5. Versatile – Will you be able to use your logo on every piece of branded material? Is it awkwardly tall or wide? Would it work better if it was simply text rather than an image? Do you need your image and text to work together and apart?
  6. Adaptable – Will your logo work well across the globe? State-wide? Nationally? Internationally? Does your company logo mean something in another culture? Will it hinder or help?
  7. Appropriate (Relevance) – Is your logo relevant to the product or services your offer?
  8. Color – Do the colors that you’ve chosen send the correct signals to others? Are you bright and cheery like orange and yellow? Do you want others to crave your delicious food with yellow and red? Do you need others to know you communicate well by incorporating blue? Respect your regal presence with purple?
  9. Know your target market. – What appeals to your target market? Are they younger/older? Into being “green”? Are you targeting a wealthier market or middle income? Have various culture practices? Religious? Apply what will appeal to them in your overall branding.
  10. Gut-Instinct – When you first look at it, do you feel indifferent or absolutely love it? Your gut will let you know what is right and wrong for your company.  After all, your company is your baby and making it your own will make your love and passion for it’s representation shine.
